This piece was created using Suminagashi, the ancient Japanese art of ink marbling which is one of the oldest paper marbling traditions in the world. Ink is floated on still water and coaxed into movement with the gentlest breath, capturing something that feels less made and more discovered.
The result here is all restraint and atmosphere: soft grey, warm taupe, pearl white, and the faintest whisper of blue drift across the paper in slow, sweeping ribbons. It reads like polished stone or morning fog. The brushed silver shadow box frame is the perfect partner due to its sleek and modern, letting the artwork breathe without competing.
